Lewis Hamilton has explained the reason behind his viral social media post targeted at Fernando Alonso in the aftermath of the Singapore Grand Prix.

The Scuderia Ferrari driver revealed how Alonso’s radio message reminded him of a line he hadn’t heard in decades. Hamilton concluded by saying it brought back memories, prompting him to share it.
“I haven't seen Fernando [Alonso]. I haven't seen him since then. It was just that we had fun," Hamilton said.
“It just reminded me of that. I hadn't seen that show for over 20 years, but I thought it was funny, so I posted it. What is life if you can't have a little bit of fun?”

After crossing the finish line just behind the Ferrari driver, Alonso shared his frustration over the radio, repeating “I f****** cannot believe it!”
Following the race in Singapore, Hamilton took to social media to share a clip from the British sitcom, 'One Foot in the Grave,' featuring Victor Meldrew yelling out nearly the same line.
Alonso reacts to Hamilton’s Singapore penalty
Alonso also reacted to Hamilton’s penalty at the Singapore Grand Prix. The 44-year-old explained that he was pleased with the position gained as a result of the sanction.

He concluded with a light-hearted remark, stressing that a smaller penalty would have been enough for Hamilton.
“I was happy with the penalty. I gained the position, so even one second was enough; I did not need the extra four,” Alonso said.
Hamilton was handed a five-second time penalty two weeks ago after breaching track limits following a brake issue in the final stages of the Grand Prix.
