How Hamilton and Antonelli's penalties reshape the Hungarian GP grid

FIA have recently confirmed the outcome of the incident involving Hamilton and Piastri during the closing stages of Q3. After reviewing the available evidence, the stewards concluded that Hamilton unnecessarily impeded the McLaren driver as Piastri began his final flying lap, handing the Ferrari driver a three-place grid penalty for Sunday's race. As a result, Charles Leclerc moves up to the front row alongside Lando Norris.

Kimi Antonelli has also been handed a three-place grid penalty for a yellow flag infringement in Q3, matching the sanction imposed on Hamilton, although for a different offence. The penalty drops the Italian to seventh on the grid, allowing teammate George Russell to gain one position.

The double penalty also promotes Max Verstappen by two places, moving him from sixth to fourth on the grid and onto the second row alongside Piastri.

From eighth place onwards, the rest of the grid moves up as expected, with Isack Hadjar starting eighth, Arvid Lindblad ninth and Nico Hulkenberg completing the top 10.
