Historic Ferrari figure Jock Clear retains strong faith in Lewis Hamilton despite a difficult 2025 season
"I remind people that when Michael went to Ferrari, it took the team five years before he won anything”

Hamilton now finds himself at a pivotal crossroads in his career, under pressure to put the toughest results-wise season of his career behind him while also proving to Ferrari fans that he is the driver worth prising away from Mercedes.
Speaking to a betting site, Clear pointed to Michael Schumacher as an example to underline how building a winning partnership in Formula 1 takes time: "I remind people that when Michael went to Ferrari, it took the team five years before he won anything.”
“It doesn't happen overnight, and I said to a few people, sort of middle of the season, I know Lewis really had a tough time last year, dealing with how difficult the challenge was. It's reassuring to remind people how difficult F1 is.

The Brit also pointed to Carlos Sainz as another example, noting how he too struggled early on at Williams to match the pace of his new team-mate.
“If Lewis arrived and just won an eighth championship, it sort of demeans or belittles the sport somewhat. You look at Carlos (Sainz) at Williams, after five races, people were like 'oh, what's happened? I thought he was going to blow Alex Albon away'.
“Look at him by the end of the year. It doesn't happen overnight. I think part of that frustration for Lewis is probably that he knows that. But, coming back to the spotlight that Ferrari was under. He just needs time.
Finally, Clear insisted that Hamilton is not the type to throw in the towel, believing he will return this year with renewed energy and do everything possible to support the team.
“Lewis is not going to give up just because 2025 was tough. He foresaw it being very tough. Hamilton will come back stronger and harder next year, work on the development, and do everything he can do to see the project through.”

Ferrari makes a decision on the future of Hamilton's race engineer

GPblog understands that Adami will continue in his role as Hamilton’s race engineer, with stability also maintained on the other side of the garage alongside Leclerc.
While Ferrari is expected to formally confirm the structure of its technical team at a later stage, there are no plans for changes to the driver–race engineer pairings, which are set to remain as they are.
