Lewis Hamilton topped his teammate in qualifying in Montreal, and will start from the second row of the grid in Sunday’s race. While he was almost knocked out in Q2, he survived in the changing conditions and said he finished with a positive result.
"Yeah, I'm definitely happy to be on the second row. I think it could have been way worse. So I know I nearly didn't get through into Q3, so I was right on the edge," Hamilton told Viaplay after qualifying.
Hamilton, who got his first pole position of all time in Montreal, was happy just to be in Q3 today, and eventually finished fourth. "I would have definitely been gutted if I... because there was one lap I was up like 7 tenths or something like that and I locked up and went straight in the last corner. And after that I was just on the edge of... on the cusp of being knocked out in Q2. So I'm grateful I just got through and anything from there was a positive," the Briton concluded.
