Lewis Hamilton has responded to the rumours that circulated about his current contract at Ferrari and his future with the Scuderia.
"Normally, when you do a contract, it's usually the year before you start to talk about it."

The seven-time world champion made the seismic move from Mercedes to Ferrari for the 2025 season, winning six World Championships in the 12-season span he had with the German team.
However, Hamilton's debut season in scarlet red has not materialised how many expected, finding himself down in P6 in the drivers' championship on 146 points, 64 points behind teammate Charles Leclerc and still without a Grand Prix podium to his name after 20 races this campaign.
In between the Mexico City Grand Prix and the Brazilian Grand Prix, rumours started suggesting that Ferrari would not be offering Hamilton a contract extension due to his 2025 performance, with his current deal set to expire after the 2026 season.

"I have a pretty long contract," was the first response from Hamilton in the Sao Paulo paddock when asked about these rumours.
"Normally, when you do a contract, it's usually the year before you start to talk about it.
"I'm a little bit far from that right now," concluded the 40-year-old, refusing to make any more comments on the topic.

Hamilton's Ferrari entourage suffers blow

There was also a departure from Hamilton's background team at Ferrari, with his now former performance engineer Riccardo Corte leaving the Scuderia.
But in Sao Paulo, Hamilton will be hoping to break his podium drought in front of his adoring fans, doing so in a special Ayrton Senna-inspired helmet that he will don all weekend.
