Hadjar meets unexpected opposition to Red Bull seat dream

F1 analyst Martin Brundle thinks that neither Isack Hadjar, nor Arvid Lindblad, nor Yuki Tsunoda are viable options for Red Bull Racing in 2026.
"Hadjar, I don’t think you want to put him up into the main team. I think he needs another year."
- Martin Brundle.
Writing off Tsunoda’s chances straight away given current power unit supplier Honda -Tsunoda’s only real link to Red Bull- will become Aston Martin’s exclusive supplier as of next year, and the comprehensive technical overhaul F1 will undergo next year, the British former F1 driver argued “experience” and “knowledge” would a key trait to have in the Milton Keynes-based team’s driver line up.
“Yuki has had his chances, to be honest,” Brundle told Sky F1. “Obviously Honda is moving away from Red Bull as well, with that Japanese link. You’ve got to look to the future.
“The problem is, for next year, there’s such a dramatic change – the biggest ever in the history of F1 with the power units and the chassis – that you want experience, you want knowledge.”

And so, Brundle believes current Racing Bulls driver Liam Lawson stands as the best option, as Hadjar is still rookie, and F2 talent Arvid Lindblad has not yet even made his debut in the series.
He continued: "I think Lawson is showing some potential and some upside. Hadjar, I don’t think you want to put him up into the main team. I think he needs another year.
“Lindblad is looking really good, but does he need a bit more experience? It’s a gamble.”
“They’ll say ‘we refer you to Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel when we put young guys in, and if they’re good enough, they can handle it’.
“I suspect it’s a heavy discussion as to whether they’re going to take a risk on Hadjar in the main team and Lindblad in the Racing Bulls,” Brundle concluded.

How Red Bull's upgrades have freed Verstappen

Max Verstappen says Red Bull’s recent upgrades let him run a more aggressive setup, unlocking pace by reducing sliding and improving tyre performance.
After attempting many different configurations early on in the season, most to no avail, Red Bull's updates allowed Verstappen to adopt more aggressive setups on his car which had a positive impact on his confidence, and more importantly his race pace. Read Verstappen's words here.
