Domenicali reveals F1: The Movie sequel is in development: 'Work in progress'

F1: The Movie brought together an all-star production team, with Joseph Kosinski directing, Jerry Bruckheimer producing and Brad Pitt leading the cast. Lewis Hamilton also played a significant role behind the scenes as a producer, working closely with the filmmakers to maximise the authenticity of the Formula 1 action. The film exceeded expectations at the global box office, setting new records and ultimately becoming the biggest commercial success of Pitt's career.

Speaking to GPblog, among other international media, about the possibility of a sequel and its potential timeline, Domenicali revealed that work is already underway, although he stressed that any follow-up project will only move forward once the timing is right and the story meets the required standard. He added that there is clear interest in making it happen, while promising to share further details once there is concrete news to announce.

In the same interview, Domenicali has dismissed concerns surrounding the 2026 regulations, insisting the new rules are already delivering exactly what the sport set out to achieve. While acknowledging there has been debate from within Formula 1, particularly from drivers and others involved in the paddock, he argued that the on-track product has been overwhelmingly positive.

He stressed that fans are far more interested in the quality of the racing than in the technical complexities behind the cars, adding that concepts such as clipping and other technical details are largely irrelevant to the wider audience.

He also emphasised that Formula 1 remains open to feedback from the FIA, manufacturers, teams and drivers, but believes the current regulations were introduced for clear reasons after years of planning rather than being created without careful consideration. Finally, he pointed to the rapid rate of development seen since the opening race of the season, saying it demonstrates Formula 1's ability to adapt quickly to new technical challenges and opportunities.
