Lando Norris sends stark warning to Formula 1 title rivals

The British driver leapfrogged teammate Oscar Piastri and then held off a Max Verstappen charge to claim his maiden title in 2025.

The timing of his feat couldn’t have been much better, with McLaren thriving at the end of the previous set of regulations.

The new 2026 rules have had a negative impact when it comes to performance for the Woking-based squad.

However, on a personal level, Norris is flourishing.

Last time out at the Hungarian Grand Prix, he won his first race as world champion, and then delivered a warning to the rest of the grid over his level.

Speaking to GPBlog and others, he said: “It was probably one of my best performances personally, in terms of driving the car.

Norris was pushed on his comments, having shown a drastic improvement in form and consistency.

On top of that he’s fifth in the drivers’ standings, and a challenge can’t be ruled out in this form.

He continued: “I started to have some good races in Monaco, Silverstone, here. Right now, today, I would probably say it was up there with one of my best performances, in terms of extracting performance out of the car and being so close to the limit every single lap.
