Williams also secured a confident fifth-place finish in the constructors’ standings, behind the frontrunners, ahead of the upcoming regulation change.
According to Sainz Sr., his son can win the Formula 1 drivers' title one day. Speaking to El Desmarque, he explained: "I have a lot of confidence and I want to believe so. It's only natural that I think so; I'm his father and I've been with him. I know his ability and talent.
"And I think he does have the talent to achieve it. He just needs to be in the right place at the right time; everything has to align perfectly. I think he's fighting and working hard to try and achieve it, and that's what he's focused on," the rally world champion concluded.
