A terrifying crash occurred in the GT World Challenge at Misano today. Two drivers couldn’t avoid a collision, and Georgi Donchev slammed into the guardrails, causing his fuel tank to explode. Miraculously, he was able to get out of the car immediately.
The race was understandably red-flagged after the intense incident. Donchev, a 42-year-old Bulgarian, hit the barriers hard, and his car erupted into flames within seconds, as the footage shows.

Huge crash at Misano

Despite other cars approaching, there was little immediate concern for Donchev’s condition. Thankfully, he escaped quickly and was able to walk away from the crash.
The massive fireball will remind many F1 fans of Romain Grosjean’s crash in 2020 Bahrain GP, though Grosjean went under the barriers and was trapped. Donchev was luckier, but it was still a brutal impact.
Below is the video of the terrifying crash.
