Verstappen drove an outstanding Grand Prix at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. The Dutchman had a hard time due to the several (Virtual) Safety Cars, but remained calm under all that pressure. Sainz finished in second place for the fifth time in his career after doing everything he could to pass Verstappen.

Lewis Hamilton ended up in third place, with Russell rounding out the podium.
