Full results FP3: Midfield shows up front in wet Montreal

On a rainy Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Fernando Alonso set the fastest time in the third free practice session. The last hour of practice was mainly about preparing for qualifying, which in all likelihood will be a wet qualifying session.

The final differences between them were hugely small in the third free practice session, although it didn't look like it for a long time. Alonso drove the fastest time, followed by Pierre Gasly and Sebastian Vettel. The top 3 were within a tenth of each other at the end of practice, which shows how close it was in the final phase of practice.

Notable absentees at the top of the field were the duos of Red Bull Racing and Ferrari. Sergio Perez ended up being the highest of the four with his eighth place, also because they stayed in the pit lane for a long time while the rest were exploring the track. Some of those drivers were Esteban Ocon, Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris who, with fourth, fifth and sixth times, will be confident heading into qualifying.
