It was not the FP1 Red Bull Racing envisioned, surely, as thy premiered the myriad of upgrades they had donned on the RB21. Max Verstappen was the least happy Red Bull driver at the Italian track.
The Dutchman had a few moments with a snap at the rear coming out of the second Rivazza being the most notorious one.
For Verstappen it was a rather discreet result to a likewise discreet session. P7 was all the Red Bull Racing driver could muster.

More than one red flag at Imola?

The session drew to a premature close as rookie Gabriel Bortoleto parked his Sauber C45 in the wall bringing out the session ending red flag. Nevertheless, an alert 'red flag' was also brought out at Red Bull with Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda clearly not happy with their RB21's.
During a radio exchange with race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase, Verstappen expalined his issues: "I can't rely on the rear, drifting everywhere," was the Dutchman's short but to the point message.
After being asked by Lambiase if he'd want an adjustmen made to the flaps, Verstappen quickly replied with a dy 'no'. An answer 'GP' did not find satsifactory.
"I think it's worth learning something, Max, to be honest with you, rather than just completing another lap in the same configuration. But we'll leave that to you," said the race engineer.
