Finalised engine proposals almost concluded

FIA racing director Charlie Whiting has confirmed that the changing of engine regulations for the 2021 season are almost complete.

Liberty Media and the FIA have been holding discussions for a while now about the 2021 F1 season and the potential change to engine regulations.

Whiting insists that an agreement between the two companies is close to being reached.

"It's very complicated," Whiting said to GPFans.

The plans are in place in an attempt to level the playing field in F1.

Many of the so called 'lesser' teams are unhappy about the engine regulations currently and don't think it's fair on sides, who perhaps don't have the financial backing, as the likes of Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes do.

Whiting denies that the July deadline was made so the teams could discuss changes at the World Motor Sport Council meeting.

"Not necessarily. It was just a date that we felt was necessary to get it done by," Whiting confirmed.
