Fight for runner-up spot in the Constructors’ tightens after US GP

The Constructors’ title is already in the bag for McLaren after their back-to-back triumph last weekend in Singapore, but the fight for second couldn’t be tighter, with Ferrari closing right back in on Mercedes.

Thanks to Charles Leclerc’s third place and Lewis Hamilton’s fourth, coupled with a difficult weekend for the Silver Arrows, the Maranello squad has slashed the gap to just seven points.

Red Bull also leave Austin with a solid haul, as Verstappen’s victory and Yuki Tsunoda’s seventh place added valuable points to their tally.

Max Verstappen delivered a flawless performance at the United States Grand Prix, controlling the race from start to finish to claim another dominant victory at COTA. The Dutchman pocketed 25 vital points and capitalised on Oscar Piastri’s low-key weekend, with the Australian only managing fifth after losing ground in Saturday’s Sprint.

Behind him, Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc staged an intense duel for second, with the McLaren driver ultimately prevailing thanks to fresher tyres in the final stint.

Lewis Hamilton put in a solid performance to finish fourth, while Ferrari’s podium helped the team close the gap to Mercedes in the Constructors’ standings.
