FIA not yet keen on extending Concorde Agreement: 'Not on fire'

For now, the FIA has no desire to extend the Concorde Agreement at this stage. The eighth and current Concorde Agreement contains agreements on television income and prize money are distributed within the king class of motorsport. The current contract between the FIA, Formula 1's owners and constructors was signed in 2021 and runs until 2025.

In a wide-ranging interview with The Associated Press, FIA president Mohammed Ben Sul ayem said he sees no reason to renegotiate now. "The Concorde Agreement is something we have to tackle together, but it has to suit all parties. You have the stakeholders, the partners, you have the FIA. You have Liberty Media, and you have the 10 teams. We still have 18 months to go," FIA president Ben Sulayem told reporters.

Time seems to be plenty. At least, that's how Ben Sulayem sees it: "So our house is not on fire. We have to talk to each other and achieve the best for all of us," the FIA chief told us. "If you want a strong FIA, we have to work together and we have to empower the FIA, because the FIA is the regulatory body. They are the owners of the championships. They are the judges," Ben Sulayem continued.
