FIA again adjusts regulations around standing restarts

The new rules around the restart procedure have only lasted one race. The FIA has brought out a document with once again changes to the rules surrounding a standing restart after a red flag.

After much criticism of the restart procedure that took place during the Australian Grand Prix, the FIA amended the regulations ahead of the Baku Grand Prix. In particular, there was much criticism about the ability to warm up the tyres, as drivers had to drive behind the safety car. This went considerably slow, leaving many drivers with tyres too cold to safely restart the race.

As a result, the FIA decided that drivers could only continue their way to the grid 30 seconds after the safety car drives out of the pit lane. This would allow drivers to go faster and thus have more opportunity to warm up the tyres.

There was no red flag in Baku in both the sprint race and the main race, yet the FIA now decides to adjust the rules again. From now on, drivers will stay in the pitlane one minute after the safety car goes out. This will give them even more of a chance to warm up their tyres.
