Ferrari targets home-race boost with updated power unit at Monza

After missing out on the podium in the last two races at circuits that, on paper, should have suited the car, Ferrari heads into its home Grand Prix determined both to give the Tifosi something to celebrate and to keep its championship hopes alive. To achieve that, the Scuderia will equip the SF-26 with new upgrades and, most importantly, a fresh power unit that should provide an additional boost in performance and help Ferrari further close the gap to the benchmark.

Ahead of the Italian Grand Prix, Vasseur reflected on the importance of returning to Monza for Ferrari and the unique atmosphere created by the team's home supporters. The Frenchman also stressed that the 2026 edition will have an added significance as the Scuderia honours Schumacher, whose influence continues to be felt within the organisation. In particular, Vasseur pointed to the seven-time world champion's drive to keep progressing, meticulous approach and commitment to working as a team as principles Ferrari still considers fundamental.

Turning to Ferrari's performance ambitions, Vasseur confirmed that the team will bring an updated power unit to Monza, taking advantage of the development possibilities offered under ADUO. The Frenchman described the upgrade as another move forward in a season where even small improvements can make a difference, particularly with the field so closely matched. Given the demanding nature of the Italian circuit, Ferrari's focus will be on delivering a clean weekend from Friday onwards, while using the support of the home crowd as additional motivation to produce a strong result for the Tifosi.

The centrepiece of Ferrari's home weekend at Monza will be a new special livery inspired by Michael Schumacher and the German legend's extraordinary legacy with the Scuderia. The design pays tribute to the 1996 Ferrari livery, marking the beginning of Schumacher's hugely successful spell with the Italian team. It will give the SF-26 a distinctive look for one of the most eagerly anticipated weekends of Ferrari's season, as the team once again celebrates its history in front of the Tifosi at the Italian Grand Prix.

Ferrari had already offered a first glimpse of the Schumacher-inspired theme by revealing the race suits Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton will wear at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. Both feature seven stars representing Schumacher's seven Formula 1 world championships, five of which he claimed during his time with Ferrari. The special livery will continue that tribute on track, with the Scuderia drawing inspiration from one of the most significant chapters in its Formula 1 history for its home race.
