Ferrari reveals effect of cancelled Grands Prix on the development race

Frederic Vasseur explained what difference does not having the two races in the Middle East in April will have on the Formula 1 season.

Over the of the F1 weekend in Shanghai, it was announced that the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix will not place in April.
That means that Japanese Grand Prix, teams will have more than a month to work on their cars ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, which will take place on 3 May.
Speaking to GPblog, among others, Vasseur explained what effect that has on the current campaign, and whether that can help them in catching Mercedes.

The Frenchman said: "Nobody can know today. It would have been the situation in Bahrain and Jeddah that we are all developing a lot. I think that you won't see new parts, Melbourne, Shanghai, Japan for cost cap reasons and so."

Updates are also postponed to Miami

Vasseur continued: "I think everybody was supposed to bring a big upgrade in Bahrain, and that this will be postponed to Miami.
"I can't anticipate what will be the package of Mercedes, Red Bull, McLaren, or us.
"But let's focus on ourselves. Let's push until Miami. We have more time also to develop and to bring more performance in Miami. And I think it's true for us, but it's true for our competitors," the Ferrari team boss concluded.
