Fans convinced they know who Donald Trump was speaking to on phone with Zak Brown

Eagle-eyed fans spotted McLaren boss Zak Brown and US President Donal Trump deep in conversation on the phone at the IndyCar race through the streets of Washington DC on Sunday - with many believing Lando Norris was on the other end.

Trump was at The Freedom 250 Grand Prix along with Brown, who was overseeing McLaren Racing's involvement in the spectacle rather than being at the Dutch F1 GP - which Norris won earlier in the day.

Organisers of the Freedom 250 Grand Prix expected 140,000 people to attend however, premium packages sold for $5,000 (£3,700) for a pair of passes.

Trump, who was told which end of the green flag to hold at the start of the race, has also seen the US capital host a UFC night and FMX exhibition in front of the White House in re ent weeks.

The race was won by American Kyle Kirkwood, who came out on top after 147 dizzying laps around the short track.

And midrace, Brown appeared to receive a video call with Trump alongside him, with the US President being animated in conversation. Fans on X predicted that the call was with Norris following his victory in Zandvoort.

Trump had previously claimed to Norris' "lucky charm" after he attended the 2024 Miami GP. Trump was given a garage visit by Brown, with the McLaren team later clarifying it was not a show of support for the politician.

A statement release at the 2024 Miami GP from McLaren said: “McLaren is a non-political organisation however we recognise and respect the office of President of the United States.

Speaking after the race, Norris said that Trump had later congratulated him about his success.

At the time, Norris said: "He [Trump] said he was my lucky charm because it's my win. So I don't know if he's going to come to more races now.
