F1 teams may be allowed to work on their cars under Parc Fermé in Miami due to exemption

In past seasons, Formula 1 has had DRS zones, but in 2026, there are designated zones for Straight-Line Mode (SLM). In Miami there will be three. The first is on the start/finish straight. The second zone is located between Turns 8 and 11, with the third and final zone is on the back straight.

It is specifically that second SLM zone that could allow work to be done on the F1 cars before the Grand Prix, when usually this is not allowed. For safety reasons, the second zone will be disabled if it is declared that the race is being run in wet conditions. In that case, a specific exemption is granted to raise the front ride height of the car under Parc Fermé.

According to the weather forecast, there is a considerable chance of severe weather on the Sunday of the Miami Grand Prix. If it does indeed rain before the main race, the mechanics will be allowed to get to work.

The rest of the weekend should remain dry. Conditions will be nearly ideal, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures around 30°C. During the Sprint Qualifying on Friday and the Sprint Race and qualifying on Saturday, temperatures will even rise to around 31 to 33°C, approaching track temperatures of 50°C.

Winds should also stay relatively calm at around 13 km/h during the opening and only practice session of the weekend, although wind levels could increase slightly later in the evening for Sprint Qualifying. Saturday's winds will rise to roughly 22 km/h.
