The Formula 1 weekend at the Circuit of the Americas continues with the second free practice session. Follow the second and final session of the day live with GPblog here!
For the first time since the 2022 season, the United States Grand Prix will not be a Sprint weekend. This means that drivers will have a total of 180 minutes of practice, instead of just 60 minutes in a single session.
Every frontrunning team except Mercedes has brought updates for this weekend. Red Bull Racing has introduced a front-wing update and revised the elastomeric gaiter profile at the front corner. Meanwhile, McLaren has brought three performance-related updates, while Ferrari has four upgrades ready for the United States Grand Prix. The Scuderia's changes concern the floor body, floor board, sidepod inlet and diffuser.
The 2026 drivers' championship could be decided this weekend at the Circuit of the Americas, with Kimi Antonelli able to secure his first title on Sunday. The young Italian is currently 102 points ahead of George Russell and 111 points ahead of Lewis Hamilton. The Mercedes driver needs to extend his lead over his closest rivals to 125 points to claim the championship.

Max Verstappen hits out at pointless debates: 'Just nonsense'
On the media day of the United States Grand Prix, Isack Hadjar claimed that in a Ferrari, Verstappen would have won the Singapore GP by an even greater margin.
The Dutchman was also asked about the Frenchman's verdict. He said: "Yeah. I don't know. Fun debate...," Verstappen began sarcastically in Austin. "Yeah, I mean, we're stressing about something that doesn't matter, right? Yeah. He said it, but okay. Well, let him say that, right?
"I mean, you shouldn't always then need to put it forward to the other driver or the other team, like, whatever. Like, you know, you are constantly trying to agitate people with it instead of just letting it be. That's what I normally do. I'm like, whatever. Life goes on. Tomorrow's another day," the Dutchman commented.
Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, on the other hand, said: "Well, first of all, I think it's nonsense to start saying these kinds of things. Isack has no idea what kind of car we drive, and I have no idea what kind of car he drives."
