Jak Crawford managed to win the feature race in Silverstone, and together with Alex Dunne, they managed to cut the gap to Richard Verschoor in the standings considerably. It was an important victory for the Aston Martin talent, as he now trails the MP Motorsport Dutchman by 6 points in the drivers' standings. However, his victory is not set in stone. The American entered the pit lane under yellow flags, but by the time the reached the line, the VSC was already possibly out.
After missing out on points during the sprint race, McLaren talent Dunne managed to add 18 points today, which means he is 14 points behind Verschoor.
Luke Browning completed the podium after a great drive.
Arvid Lindblad crossed the finish line in eighth place, but earned an additional point for the fastest lap of the race.
As it happened
After the
F3 feature race was not resumed as it was red flagged because of the rain, the F2's start was also delayed. Before the session, Luke Browning also posted on his Instagram account his garage was about to be flooded.
Crawford took the lead in wet conditions after the start, while McLaren talent Dunne could remain in second place.
Pole sitter Victor Martins lost two positions on the first lap, while Lindblad could gain three positions of the line and was up to P8. During the second lap however, the Red Bull talent lost a position after a great battle to Browning in the final corners, and then also to Ferrari junior Dino Beganovic.
By Lap 5, the two Hitech drivers also overtook championship leader Verschoor, and Sebastian Montoya as well. Five laps later, they both overtook Roman Stanek.
While Beganovic got stuck behind Joshua Dürksen, Browning overtook fellow Williams junior Victor Martins on Lap 18 in the Luffield corner.
At the front, Dunne began closing down the gap to Crawford on Lap 20. While the two were locking horns at the front, Browning entered the pit lane.
The Briton switched for wet tyres. On the other hand, Gabriele Mini was ambitious to put on slick tyres, but it didn't end well, as he found the barrier, leading to a VSC.
From the lead, Crawford also stopped for another set of wets, while Stanek's car stalled after he made a mistake also on the slicks. On Lap 25, the Safety Car was also called out. Dunne pitted on Lap 26, returning to the track behind the American.
The session restarted with two laps to go. Durksen immediately spun after the race resumed, leading to the Paraguayan missing out on points. As his car stalled, the Safety Car was called out once again, effectively ending today's contest.
