The Formula One has confirmed that the first fan festival of the year will be taking place in Shanghai from April 13 to 15, the week where the F1-circus travels to that same city for the third Grand Prix of the season.
Presented by Heineken, the festival will take place while the action takes place on the track. The "Heineken F1 Shanghai Fan Festival" will be open on Friday from 4 pm to 10 pm, and from 10 AM to 10 PM on Saturday and Sunday.
The opening ceremony will be presented by (Heineken ambassador (and three-time world champion)) Sir Jackie Stewart, as well as 2016 champion Nico Rosberg. The stages feature Dutch superstar DJ Armin van Buuren on Friday and Angela Chang on Saturday. Of course, the actual Grand Prix will be shown on massive screens there.
"We are very proud that the first F1 Festival of the year will take place in Shanghai, a destination city in a country like China where there is an incredible potential interest for Formula 1," Alexandre Molina said, F1 director of events.
"The city will have the opportunity to live the Formula 1 2018 Heineken Chinese Grand Prix in a unique way and discover the engineered insanity which characterizes the pinnacle of motorsport."
We'll probably see more of these events throughout the year, as F1-owner Liberty Media has stated that they have four locations in total that will be hosting such events in 2018.
