Jenson Button can't rule out Max Verstappen winning the 2025 drivers’ title despite the gap becoming larger during the Sao Paulo GP.
"He's still got a chance and I mean if he did win this championship, wow, it would be the most impressive win ever."

Despite starting from the pit lane during the Brazil GP, Verstappen crossed the finish line in third place.
While the Dutchman put together a stunning performance, the gap to Lando Norris increased in the standings after the Briton collected all 33 points available at Interlagos. The defending world champion currently trails the Briton by 49 points.

According to former F1 world champion Button, the Dutchman cannot be ruled out. He said on the Sky Sports F1 Show podcast: "Now it's definitely a lot trickier for him."
The Briton explained that since the summer break, he believes that the chase has been exciting for Verstappen. "It was a big upgrade in terms of how the car worked for Max and he was able to maximize it and that's all you can do as a racing driver. He just seems to be able to do that every race weekend."
He added: "I think winning a championship like that must be more exciting than just leading it from the first race. So he's still got a chance and I mean if he did win this championship, wow, it would be the most impressive win ever, personally. But yeah, it's definitely still a long shot."

'Norris is the favourite'

Button believes Verstappen needs the RB21 to perform every weekend, and the McLaren drivers have to "trip over each other a little bit" as well to claim his fifth title in a row.
When asked who will win the 2025 title, the former Williams and McLaren driver concluded: "At the moment it's in Lando's favour. He's leading the championship, but secondly, the performances are there. It's been really impressive. So there's no reason to not say Lando at this moment."
The next chapter of the championship battle will be contested this weekend at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
