During the sprint race, Alpine rookie, Jack Doohan, went for an optimistic overtake on Sauber rookie, Gabriel Bortoleto, which resulted in an incident, which prompted an investigation from the Stewards. Said investigation has now concluded and the race officials have reached a verdict.
As Doohan and Bortoleto were locked in a heated battle over P17, the Australian went for a rather late lunge up the inside of the Brazilian which resulted in contact and sent Bortoleto off into a spin, which saw the Sauber driver finish in P18 and the Alpine rookie in P20.

Stewards find Doohan guilty

"DOO attempted to overtake BOR on the inside of Turn 14 but locked up at the apex of the corner and collided with BOR. DOO suggested that he was in control of the overtake but the presence of the Haas cars and the line they took compromised his overtake attempt," read the FIA document
"First, as the car attempting to overtake, the responsibility was on DOO to ensure that it was done in a safe manner and in line with the regulations and guidelines," the document continued, later adding that "DOO did not have the right to the corner at the apex and should have backed off," reaching the conclusion that Doohan was to blame for the subsequent collision.
