With the arrival of Charles Leclerc at Ferrari, the future of Sebastian Vettel seems anything but certain. According to former F1 driver and Sky F1 reporter Paul Di Resta, the German may have to settle for a significant salary cut.

Future at Ferrari

The rumour mill has been around for a long time when it comes to the future of Vettel at the Italian race stable. Carlos Sainz would be a good option for Ferrari. Daniel Ricciardo also seems to be preying on the seat of the German. Vettel himself has already indicated that he hopes to sign his new contract before the first race.
However, Paul Di Resta says in the Sky F1 Vodcast that it would be crazy for Ferrari to offer him a new contract before they see how Vettel performs. "Sebastian if he's on form, I think you'd love to see him in there", says Di Resta. "But if he's not I think there's a few people lining up out of contract who Ferrari could equally grab."

Di Resta also thinks that Vettel should be satisfied with an immediate substantial salary cut. "He'll have to take what he gets. And that may push him out of it", concludes the Scotsman.
