De Vries will test drive for AlphaTauri; fifth team in one year

AlphaTauri team boss Franz Tost confirmed in Mexico that Nyck de Vries will still be boarding at AlphaTauri in 2022. Indeed, the Dutchman will make his debut for the Italian team during the Young Driver Test following the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Earlier on Saturday, it was not entirely certain whether Mercedes would cooperate with an early debut at van De Vries AlphaTauri, but according to team boss Tost, that is no longer a problem. During the press conference attended by journalist Adam Cooper, the Austrian confirmed that De Vries will make his AlphaTauri debut in Abu Dhabi during the Young Driver Test.

The Dutch driver's seat is already waiting for him, having already had it made at the Italian team's factory. AlphaTauri will already be the fifth Formula 1 team De Vries will drive for in 2022, having driven FP1 outings at Mercedes, Aston Martin and Williams and done a special test for Alpine. At Williams, he also made his official racing debut in Italy.
