De Vries has good bond with Verstappen: 'Feels like older brother'

Nyck de Vries can be admired in Formula 1 at AlphaTauri next season. On the grid, he will meet Max Verstappen. Talking to Racer he tells that he has an excellent relationship with the two-time world champion whom he is grateful for the past few years.

De Vries had to work hard in recent years to get into Formula 1. While his performances in other racing classes were excellent, several teams did not yet dare to take him on. Verstappen, however, kept supporting him, making it happen after all.

"Max and I have a great relationship," stressed De Vries, who went to dinner with Verstappen on several occasions. "We respect each other a lot. He is a world champion … the best in our sport at the moment. Even though he’s younger it feels like he has acted as my older brother."

The driver stressed that he owes his move to AlphaTauri to his performance for Williams in Italy. De Vries noticed that earlier teams doubted his qualities, while in Monza he managed to completely remove this. He will join AlphaTauri as the teammate of Yuki Tsunoda , who recently extended his contract.
