Daniel Ricciardo has insisted that there is no departure clause in his Renault contract and has said that he will remain with the team until the contract ends at the end of 2020.
"The rumors are incorrect, my contract is completely closed down without departure clauses. If a top team offers me a contract, I cannot sign it,” Ricciardo told Championat.com.
"There is not even a possibility to leave if the performance is disappointing. I have given my word to Renault and with my complete dedication I remain faithful to them.”
Many believed that Ricciardo would only sign a deal with Renault if he had the option to leave if a bigger team tried to sign him. It was no secret that when the Aussie decided to leave Red Bull it was because he wanted a seat at either Mercedes or Ferrari but neither team wanted him.
Ricciardo will hope that Renault improves or that come to the end of 2020, the top teams want to sign him once again.
