There are major concerns about whether Saturday’s sprint race at the Brazil Grand Prix can go ahead without issues. Extreme weather conditions are expected, and it remains to be seen whether it would allow the 20 drivers race at the Interlagos circuit. Max Verstappen and his fellow drivers must prepare for highly changeable weather this weekend. While Sunday’s Sao Paulo Grand Prix will likely be dry, Saturday is expected to be very wet. Heavy rain and lightning are especially likely during the morning hours.
This makes it uncertain whether the scheduled Sprint race can take place. In heavy rain, there is a risk that standing water could make the circuit not drivable for
Formula 1 cars.
Past experience has shown that the FIA quickly postpones a session in similar situations.

No racing in lightning and thunderstorms
In the event of lightning and thunderstorms, starting a session is impossible regardless, as helicopters cannot take off safely and must remain grounded.
The chance of heavy rainfall and lightning decreases only as the day progresses, but it is almost certain to remain wet throughout.
If the FIA is (forced) to move one or both of Saturday’s sessions, it would be a setback for Max Verstappen. The Dutchman is hoping for wet conditions, knowing he excels in them —
having won at Interlagos in 2024 under similar circumstances.
