Carlos Sainz may seem like a cool customer on the track but the McLaren driver has revealed some warm training methods he uses to prepare for races such as Singapore.
The Spaniard is in great form this season having joined McLaren from Renault for this season. He's seventh in the Drivers' Championship but sits just a five points behind Red Bull driver, Pierre Gasly.
McLaren has seen the good form of Sainz and his rookie teammate, Lando Norris establish the Woking-based outfit as the best of the rest team. Sainz revealed some of his intense training he puts himself through which may be an indicator into his impressive form.
"Prior to flying to Germany, I visited my friends at the Roehampton University, where they have great facilities and a heat chamber that I use to prepare for races such as Singapore," Sainz said in a column on the F1 website.
"Apart from cycling and boxing inside the chamber, I like to challenge my mind. So after a series of tough exercises, I sit down on the floor and simulate a lap around a circuit.

"On my signal, my trainer uses the stopwatch to time my “mental” lap. Since we were heading to Germany the following day, I went for a lap around Hockenheim – and nailed a 1:11ish! Always aim for pole position!"
