Valtteri Bottas surprisingly took pole position for the Mexican Grand Prix. The expectation was a front row for Red Bull Racing, but instead, it was Mercedes who ran away with the first two spots.
"They were awesome laps, especially my first run in Q3," Bottas began in his post-qualifying interview. "I couldn't quite match the same last sector in the second one. But honestly that first run in Q3 was one of my best laps, it was a good feeling."

Bottas thinks higher temperature was in Mercedes' favour

He continued: "With higher temperatures this afternoon came our way and we tried to optimise everything with tyre temps and set-up. It was a joy to drive."
"It is a long straight with the other cars behind with a tow will have opportunities but as a team it's great to have two cars ahead and hopefully we can keep our positions somehow," the Finn finished.
