Valtteri Bottas left Mercedes at the end of last season to embark on an adventure with Alfa Romeo. The Finnish driver is happy with the move, he told Auto, Motor und Sport.
Since the driver came from a top team, he had to get used to it at first. Not only are Alfa Romeo's objectives logically different from those of Mercedes, but the racing teams also differ in other respects.
"Sauber is a real racing team. Just like Williams before my Mercedes days," Bottas summed up. "The team is obviously smaller than Mercedes, but everyone is fully committed because they love motorsport and want to see success."

Bottas saw mood change

While Alfa Romeo was searching for the right form in pre-season, Bottas and Guanyu Zhou's team quickly found it at the start of the season. The Finn then noticed that things were starting to turn around and successes were not long in coming.

"When we scored the first points, the mood completely changed. The boys saw that something is possible this year. Okay, we are not racing for the win, but for the best possible result. In that respect Sauber is not so different from Mercedes."
