Binotto worried: 'There are always discussions'

A group of drivers in the current Formula 1 teams have been around in the sport for years. Mattia Binotto does not think this is a good thing and argues that young drivers should be given the opportunity to prove themselves at the highest level.
The Ferrari team boss realises that Formula 1 can only give out a limited number of places, making it hard work to secure a seat. "It's a shame that there are so few options in Formula 1," Binotto stated in conversation with Motorsport-total.com. "If a driver is really good, he will always find an opportunity somehow. But in the process, we need to help rookies get into Formula One."

Binotto wants to help talents

According to Binotto, the FIA is already working hard to make it possible for talents to gain more experience. The 51-year-old Swiss therefore hopes that new opportunities will soon arise for the young drivers.
"There are always discussions between the teams, Formula 1 and the FIA about how we can help them with more sessions, extra test days or participation in race weekends. We need to have those discussions too. And we need to get the young drivers into our cars."
