Binotto: "It is our duty to help him"

Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel has been chasing teammate Charles Leclerc all season long. Where last season there was an exciting battle between the two, the gap is now quite big. Team boss Mattia Binotto has no clear explanation for this.
“I don’t think there’s a key difference,” Binotto said this weekend to Crash.net and others. “I think in the end it’s very small differences. We aren’t talking about a big number, it’s always a sum of hundredths per corner, per braking. It’s very little and as Seb said, it’s a matter of feeling"

Different feeling with the same material

Or rather, a lack of feeling that Vettel has with the current Ferrari. As a result, the difference can gradually increase considerably over an entire lap. So much so that some media speculate that Vettel would not have the same material as Leclerc. Ferrari has already denied this.
"It’s a matter of feeling the grip, it’s a matter of extracting the potential, it’s our task and it’s our duty to help him, to support him in the ways he can deliver better and that’s it. Looking at the data there are no big differences, that’s the point”, concludes Binotto.
