Australian media took another jab at McLaren after the topic of 'Lando Norris being favoured over Oscar Piastri' previously made it to the Australian Senate as well. Piastri missed out on the drivers' title after the conclusion of the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Australian driver finished third in the standings after Max Verstappen scored the victory at the Yas Marina Circuit, and Norris secured his first championship victory.
In Australia, the idea that McLaren favours Norris over Piastri has been a topic for some time,
even reaching the Australian Senate.
Talking to 9News Australia among others, the driver concluded his telling a message to his fans back home, saying, "thank you for your support, and we'll go again next year."
After the reporter threw it back to the studio, the presenter added: “Let’s hope Oscar can do it next year… if McLaren don’t work against him.”

Piastri proud of performance despite not achieving the desired outcome
After leading the drivers' standings from the Saudi Arabian until the Mexico City Grand Prix, the McLaren driver eventually finished 13 points behind Norris. He secured seven victories throughout the season.
The Australian remains proud of his season,
he explained after the title showdown:
"I think, obviously, I would have wished for a slightly different ending, but I think this year I’ve learned a hell of a lot about myself as a race car driver, myself as a person."I think if you had presented this season at the start of the year with the pole positions and the wins and the podiums, I definitely would have been pretty happy with that."
