While many people are critical of Max Verstappen, Peter Windsor was particularly critical of Red Bull Racing.
Gary Anderson agrees with Windsor based on the mistakes of Red Bull, but he also makes it clear that what Verstappen did was 'unacceptable'. Regarding the earlier actions of Verstappen against Charles Leclerc and George Russell, in an article by The Race, Anderson had nothing special to say. That was not the case with the collision in turn 5: "The second contact - or should I say collision - with Russell, was far beyond what is acceptable. A ten-second penalty made him finish tenth instead of fifth, losing five points. But does that matter to him? No, because he wants to win. Sometimes you just have to take as many points home as possible."
Anderson also critical of Red Bull
Red Bull opted for a remarkable strategy. While everyone came in for soft tires during the safety car, this was not the case for Verstappen. The
Red Bull Racing driver was put on hard tires, even though there were only six laps to go when the safety car came in.
Anderson doesn't understand why Red Bull let Verstappen pit at all: "If he was trying to survive on that set of soft tires with only six rounds to go, which I think was no problem for him, and he just had restrained himself, he might have won the race."
