Lawson scores first points in F1 but remains critical: 'Working on this'

Where the Singapore Grand Prix was mainly dominated by Carlos Sainz's victory, Liam Lawson scored his first points on behalf of AlphaTauri in the background. Lawson was also allowed to drive in Singapore due to Daniel Ricciardo's injury. Despite managing to drive himself into the points, the New Zealander remains critical.

"Today was fantastic," the New Zealander told reporters after the Singapore Grand Prix. "I’m happy with the race, and I definitely gave it everything because I think we maximised the car’s performance," Lawson said.

"I need to look at the start because it’s been two weekends in a row that I lost positions, so it makes our lives harder. We stayed out of trouble for the rest of the race and kept it clean," Lawson said. "It’s hard when you’re struggling for pace, trying to maximise your tools and get everything out of it, so the race was physically demanding," concluded the AlphaTauri driver.

Before the weekend in the city-state, AlphaTauri had scored more drivers than points this season. Nyck de Vries was sent off before the Hungarian GP because of his underperformance, and Ricciardo replaced him. Yuki Tsunoda is the only one to get behind the wheel of the car every weekend so far. He failed to score any points in Singapore.
