Formula One will be missing Fernando Alonso at this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix, but Alonso will not be missing the Australian Grand Prix and the Melbourne paddock.
Alonso left F1 at the end of last season and will be racing at Sebring circuit in Melbourne this weekend in front of over 200,000 fans.
In an interview with Spanish newspaper Diario Sport, the two-time World Champion admitted that the Melbourne race does not interest him.
He said: “I will not watch the race, I don't know if it will be interesting and in any case I don't care so much. I will certainly look at the result, I am obviously curious to see what the actual order of forces is in the field.
“F1 remains the queen category of motorsport, but there are other challenges outside the circus and at least for me there was no doubt about what to do in 2019.”
