Fernando Alonso reveals that he has been racing with a sore arm since the Australian Grand Prix. In qualifying that weekend, the Spaniard crashed hard into the wall and since then the pain has barely subsided.

Sore arm of Alonso

Alonso revealed that he has been driving with a sore arm since the third qualifying session in Australia, Marca says. In Melbourne he was working on a strong qualifying lap until his Alpine got a hydraulic problem. This caused him to shoot straight on entering turn eleven.
The big problem for Alonso is that he cannot have surgery on the arm. The arm mainly needs rest, but due to the overcrowded Formula 1 calendar, the arm is not getting it. The two-time world champion lets it be known that he needs two to three months of rest.

Piastri not an option

Should Alonso's problems become so severe, Alpine F1 Team can always choose to deploy reserve Oscar Piastri. Alonso himself does not see this as an option. "I'm going to continue racing. We have to score points," he says himself.
Alonso achieved his best result of 2022 so far in Monaco. The Spaniard found himself back in seventh place, despite being much slower than the cars behind him. Alonso himself enjoyed that.
