Alfa Romeo deal fell through: 'It burns a little now'

Alfa Romeo can be very satisfied with its season start after three Grands Prix. The team of Guanyu Zhou and Valtteri Bottas is in sixth place in the constructors' championship with thirteen points and seems to be able to compete with the formations in the middle. The situation gives Colton Herta a double feeling.
The Italian racing stable said goodbye to Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi at the end of last season, after which it started looking for two new drivers. Herta was one of the candidates to make the switch, but in the end Alfa Romeo decided to go for Zhou and Bottas.
The son of former racing driver Bryan Herta is by no means bored, as this season he is competing in IndyCar. At the same time, he regrets that he did not get into Formula 1, as he candidly tells The Race. "It burns a little now, seeing how good they are this year, but it wasn’t meant to be," he looks at Alfa Romeo.

Bottas gets off to a great start at Alfa Romeo

Bottas in particular has been in decent form this season. The driver left Mercedes at the end of 2021 and hoped to use his experience to be of value to Alfa Romeo in the new year. His contribution so far yielded twelve points, which puts him in tenth position in the world championship.
