The Grand Prix weekend in the United States was disappointing for McLaren. Where Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris finished in fifth and eighth place, competitor Ferrari did better. Despite this Andreas Seidl is satisfied with the Australian.

The McLaren team boss sees Ricciardo getting better and better in form. The driver was clearly struggling to perform with his McLaren car at the start of the season, but over the last few races he has been showing his qualities. Seidl is confident that he will score many more points for the team at the end of the season.

"It was definitely a strong weekend from Daniel," judged Seidl in conversation with Motorsport.com. "Along with Monza, this was his strongest weekend with us. Maybe this was even his best weekend so far, on a track with many different types of corners. I am very happy that he was able to put down a weekend like this. It was also very strong that he was able to keep Carlos behind him for the whole race. He was under tremendous pressure, so I'm happy with that."

McLaren and Ferrari in battle

McLaren will have to work hard in the last five races to maintain their third place in the Constructors' Championship. The team is only 3.5 points ahead of Ferrari, which means the Italians could overtake their rival in the next race.
