Chance of more overtakes at Zandvoort in 2022: "It was conservative"

Ross Brawn thinks there will be even more overtaking opportunities at Zandvoort in 2022. Not only should next year's cars be easier to follow, but there is also a chance that there will be a longer DRS zone.

"Hopefully, once we have a proper look at all the data, we can go back to our original idea of having DRS from the beginning of the banking, which will help a little bit," Brawn said in conversation with Motorsport.com. There was overtaking here and there at the Zandvoort circuit, but it wasn't very easy.  ""But there was overtaking, you could do it. It was tough, but it could happen, which was great."

Initially, Liberty Media planned to use a longer DRS zone as a result, but in the end, they didn't dare. "It was conservative," he agrees. "We as F1 didn't think there was a problem, but we wanted to be conservative. I think with the data we've got we feel a lot more comfortable, and so that that's going to be an option."

Zandvoort contract

DutchGP's contract with Formula 1 runs until 2023, with an option for two more seasons. However, there is a very good chance that the contract will be broken soon. The organisation of the Dutch GP has received rave reviews from all over the world. Even Brawn has already indicated that it will be possible to visit Zandvoort in the coming years.
