It was a chaotic day at Spa-Francorchamps with a delayed start, several formation laps and a three-hour-long interruption due to the rain. Unfortunately, all the confusion is not over yet, as the FIA continue to hand out penalties as well.

The FIA now reports that Lance Stroll will receive a ten-second penalty. The reason for this is that Aston Martin changed its rear wing.

Stroll had to start from the pitlane

It's a complicated reason, but the stewards explain it for us. When the rear wing of a driver is changed, the driver officially has to start from the pitlane. However, all drivers started from the pitlane anyway due to the red flag.

The FIA, therefore, wanted to give Stroll a drive-through penalty, but due to the shortening of the race, this was no longer possible. Therefore, the Aston Martin driver now receives a ten-second penalty. This means that he has finished last in the Belgian Grand Prix. It doesn't have much consequence, as Stroll finished outside the points anyway.
