Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton were once again in the spotlight this Sunday. This time, however, it wasn't about the fantastic duel between the two championship rivals, but about the ending of a beautiful duel gone wrong.

Lewis Hamilton hit Verstappen on the first lap, sending the Dutchman flying off the track. Hamilton didn't suffer too much damage. In a press release, team boss Christian Horner responded to the incident.

"This is an incredibly difficult way to end the British Grand Prix weekend and it goes without saying that we are all grateful that Max was able to get out of the car, despite the fact that he was later taken to hospital as a precaution, where he currently remains for observation."

Horner reacts to moment with Hamilton

Horner says that by now, like many others, he has watched the footage quite often. His conclusions were actually consistently the same. "I've watched the footage many times and I still can't help feeling that Lewis sent a wheel in at Copse, one of the fastest corners in this world championship and that he misjudged it. He wasn't really next to Max, as you can see from the point of contact: Lewis' left front and Max' right rear. The move was never on and resulted in a 51G impact for Max."

He concluded with an announcement. "We are in contact with Max and Jos and will give an update later today." So maybe we'll hear something from the Verstappen camp later tonight. A health update seems to be coming today anyway.
