Callum Ilott and Robert Kubica will make an appearance during the two race weekends in Austria. Kubica will be first in line for the Styrian Grand Prix, followed by Ilott for the Austrian GP.

Opportunities at Alfa Romeo

Kubica is more likely to be on track in the first free practice of a race weekend as a reserve driver, but for Ilott his first free practice at the Austrian Grand Prix will be a key moment. The 2020 Formula 2 championship runner-up is still hoping for a place in F1, and has the best opportunity at Alfa Romeo.

''The second FP1 of my season will be a good opportunity to help the team and build on the good work we did together in Portugal earlier this year. Knowing the car and the team already will definitely help me get started straight away and with the data from the first race week we have a solid base to start from. I'm looking forward to making the most of this opportunity as the team gets stronger and stronger,'' said Ilott in the Alfa Romeo press release.

Test for Ilott

''The way Callum has integrated himself into the team in a relatively short time is remarkable, and to see him in the car with a solid set-up base from the previous week will be interesting. He did a good job in Portugal and the data he provided us with was really useful, so we're looking forward to another productive session together,'' team boss Frederic Vasseur also said.

Kubica will take over from Kimi Raikkonen during the first free practice session for the Styrian Grand Prix, while Antonio Giovinazzi will relinquish his seat to Ilott for the first free practice session for the Austrian Grand Prix.
