Gasly can't believe it: "Didn't know if we could fight for the podium".

Pierre Gasly was suddenly on the podium after a crazy race in Azerbaijan. The French driver of AlphaTauri was smiling from ear to ear and was secretly hoping for a podium after the AT-02 was strong all weekend.

"Unbelievable. I don't know what to say. it was a bizarre race. Those last two laps were super intense. The car was fast all weekend. Qualifying was mega, I didn't know if we could fight through for the podium. But we did it," Gasly said after the race.

"I've finished first and second before, to now add a third-place feels great. We had to work hard for it. It was a very difficult race for me, we were driving with an engine problem and lost quite a lot of speed on the straights," continued the Frenchman.

"During the race, Seb was able to pass me and I knew that the last laps with Charles behind me would be very difficult. But I really wanted that podium. It feels so good after this weekend," Gasly concluded.
