That Max Verstappen not only gets the best out of the car on Sunday, the Dutchman has shown over the last few seasons. The Red Bull driver made it clear who was in charge in the qualifying duel with Sergio Perez.
There is only one person you can really measure yourself against in Formula 1 and that is of course your teammate. He is the only other driver who drives on track with exactly the same material and who can count on the same strategists. From the qualifying duel between them you can see a lot.
After his perfect 21-0 performance against Alexander Albon, Max Verstappen immediately continued his strong qualifying performance. The Dutchman managed to get pole position, while Sergio Perez didn't get further than P11. That's one-nil for Verstappen.
In Bahrain we also see a number of other drivers continuing their strong run of last year. Lewis Hamilton is leading the race against Valtteri Bottas and also Charles Leclerc shows who is boss at Ferrari. On the other hand, it is notable that newcomers Daniel Ricciardo and Fernando Alonso are leading at McLaren and Alpine respectively. At the British team, it has been an exciting battle over the last few years, so the next few races will see if Ricciardo and Lando Norris go neck-and-neck in 2021.
