Red Bull had a good test weekend in Bahrain. The RB16B looks stable and both Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez were very enthusiastic about their 2021 challenger. Mercedes didn't have it so easy during the test. The team missed almost a day and a half of testing due to problems and ended up with the least number of laps among the teams.
Ailment at several Mercedes teams
But it wasn't just the factory Mercedes team that looked unreliable, Helmut Marko pointed out: "The second Mercedes, the Aston Martin, also had similar problems on the transmission side", he is quoted by Motorsport-Magazin.com.
Despite the problems at Mercedes, Marko doesn't see Red Bull as an immediate favourite just yet. "This is a very strong team and there are still fourteen days until the first race. You can assume that these problems will be largely resolved", he concluded.
